Welcome to the fourth in our “12 tips to Christmas!”  This is a mini survival guide which both business owners and employees may find useful to get them through the festive season without too much trouble!

Tip 4 – Party Policy

It may seem a bit scrooge-like to have a party policy but it is in fact beneficial to have one for both employers and employees. Christmas time is certainly the time of the year which focuses the mind on this but such a policy would equally be applicable to the standards expected at any work-related social event.

A good party policy should be clearly written and provide clear guidance about acceptable standards of behavior, making it clear that conduct such as fighting, illegal drug taking, sexist or racist remarks and comments about sexual orientation, disability, age or religion etc. will not be tolerated. The policy should also highlight any likely consequences or disciplinary sanctions which could result from such behaviour.

It is good practice to remind employees of the relevant policy and procedures that are in place. Don’t forget to follow us to see what tip #5 will be!
